Please read these Frequently Asked Questions to learn more about Litchfield Elementary School District's work related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Families, staff, and community members are invited to join us in focusing on academic excellence, well being and preparedness for all students.

Community Chats
We are still processing the feedback from our Community Chats, staff conversations, and Governing Board meetings. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to share their perspective. Please watch for revised goals and more opportunities to offer feedback in July. The revised goals will also be presented for discussion at a Governing Board meeting.

Please contact Executive Director Megan Duplain at duplain@lesd.k12.az.us or 623-535-6005 to discuss our DEI work.

LESD Equity Statement
The equity statement was discussed at the Governing Board study session on April 27 (now available on our YouTube channel). Any changes to the equity statement would need to be presented during a regular Governing Board meeting and adopted by the Governing Board.

LESD Values Civil Dialogue and Diversity of Perspective
Superintendent Jodi Gunning

June 8, 2021

It has come to my attention that the names of our staff members and volunteers who served on the Diversity Empowerment Committee (DEC), as well as screen shots from their personal Facebook pages, have been posted to social media as individuals to “get to know.” This even included personal information about someone’s partner and child.

Litchfield Elementary School District denounces any attempts to intimidate or threaten. We strongly oppose personal attacks and fear tactics by anyone attempting to persuade the professional business of our public institution.

We are working closely with law enforcement partners to ensure the safety of all of our stakeholders. We expect a respectful and professional environment that values civil dialogue and embraces diversity of perspective.

Our diversity, equity, and inclusion work will continue. We invite staff, families, and community members of all backgrounds and perspectives to join us in focusing on academic excellence, well being and preparedness for all students.
